Inside the Dixon Police Department

A Message from Chief Steven C. Howell, Jr.

Chief Howell

The mission of the Dixon Police Department is to create a safer Dixon.  We work to enhance the quality of life in our city by working collaboratively within our community to protect individuals, preserve lasting professional relationships with civic agencies, and to provide a secure environment for everyone to enjoy all the offerings of Dixon, Illinois.

I hope this website helps you get a complete look at our department and the services we offer to the community.  It is an honor to serve the citizens of Dixon as the Chief of Police and it is my privilege to work with our distinguished team of police officers.

As the Chief of Police, I pledge to continue to provide the best possible service to the citizens we serve.  To support our mission statement above, we know we are only successful when we provide the services and the support that make our community great.  To do this, we will continue with our strong legacy of exemplary citizen service, proactive police strategies, strict enforcement of drug and gang-related activity, and community policing initiatives proven to be successful like “The Safe Passage Initiative,” “Shop with a Cop,” “Clothes for Kids” and “Cops-N-Bobbers.”

Through professional policing we will continue to assist our citizens and, together, make the City of Dixon a safe and desirable community in which to live, work, and visit.

We value a strong relationship with our citizens, businesses, and civic groups to help fulfill our mission.  When we have good neighbors, we have an even better community.  Please do not hesitate to contact our department at 815-288-4411 with your concerns and ideas.
