Dixon Government News Odd/Even Parking Ordinance – Snow

Odd/Even Parking Ordinance – Snow

The City of Dixon would like to remind citizens of the Even/Odd parking procedure.  This procedure was adopted by the City Council in 2011.

This ordinance is in effect when there is more than 2 inches of snow on the street between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.:

  • On even numbered days (ex. – December 20th), cars will be required to park on the even numbered side of the street (ex. – the side of the street 320 West 9th Street is located on).
  • On odd numbered days (ex. – December 21st), cars will be required to park on the odd numbered side of the street (ex. – the side of the street 321 West 9th Street is located on).
  • Residents who live on streets where parking is only permitted on one side of the road are still required to follow the ordinance.  Residents are encouraged to use their driveway until the road has been cleared.  If there are not parking options for your residents, please contact the police department, so arrangements can be made.
  • Even / Odd parking rules do not apply to the Central Business District. No parking is allowed in the Central Business District, to include parking lots, between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., so the city crews can clean the streets and lots for the next business day.

Once a side of the road has been cleared for an entire block, parking can resume as normal.  The fine for “Snow Parking” violations is $75.00 and the vehicles will be towed.  If anyone has questions about this ordinance, please contact the Dixon Police Department at 815/288-4411.
