Pavement repairs begin June 7 on IL 2 in Dixon

DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces today that weather permitting, pavement patching and resurfacing on IL 2 from Page Drive to Galena Avenue (US 52 and IL 2/26) in Dixon will begin on June 7, 2021.

Traffic will be reduced from four to two lanes during the project, which includes pavement patching, hot mix asphalt resurfacing, new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and traffic signal modernization. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction. Martin & Company Excavating of Oregon is the contractor of the $2,016,252 project, which is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve 2,779 miles of highway and 7.9 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. Year One included approximately $2.7 billion of improvements statewide on 1,706 miles of highway, 128 bridges and 228 additional safety improvements.
